Fit Specialist Training

As a leader in breast care around the world, Amoena offers education for women who want to become certified fit specialists.

Women who wear a prosthesis should have their fit evaluated at least once a year by a Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CMF).

CMFs are trained to fit bras and breast prostheses through manufacturer based programs. Their clinical experience, combined with their completion of an approved education program, allows them to apply for certification through nationally recognized boards such as:

  •   ABCOP (American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics)
  •   BOC (Board for Orthotists/Prosthetists Certification)

Amoena currently offers Introductory Fit Specialist courses and, new in Spring 2013, Mini Seminars for more advanced fit specialists*.

Fit seminar dates and locations are subject to change. We make every effort to update the list as soon as a change occurs.

*NEW! Mini Seminars

New this season, our Mini Seminars are perfect for the more advanced Fit Specialist. We offer a day of learning broken into several 2-hour business topics. You can choose to come for one or all topics offered that day.

This season's topics include

Medical Marketing: (3 BOC and 2.25 ABCOP CEUs) This session will teach you the importance of medical marketing -- How to identify the medical personnel who see your customer base; how to present an in-service for the medical office; and what specific products are relevant to the breast surgeon’s office, the plastic surgeons, the radiologist and the lymphedema therapist.

Challenging Fittings: (3 BOC and 2.25 ABCOP) This session will focus on why some fittings are more challenging and how to address the issues that are related to your patients' needs. Specific topics will include radiation, lymphedema, nerve damage, reconstruction, body balance and weight distribution.

It's All About Balance: (3 BOC and 2.25 ABCOP) This topic helps create awareness in the growing partial shapers market. The focus is on understanding product choices, tools to advertise this "untapped" market, billing, and reaching out into the medical community.
